On August 7, 2024, in Paris, Li Fabin successfully defended his Olympic title in men’s 61kg weightlifting.

After setting a new Olympic record of 143 kg—three kilograms less than his World Record—in the snatch rounds, the athlete from the People’s Republic of China assured himself of a gold medal.

Therrapong Silachai of Thailand, who won the silver medal, and Hampton Morris of the United States, who took home the bronze and his country’s first men’s weightlifting medal since Los Angeles 1984, were unable to overtake Li.
