India’s Pravin Jadhav lost to Kao Wenchao of the People’s Republic of China on Wednesday, resulting in his elimination from the men’s solo archery competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Pravin Jadhav, who advanced to the Tokyo 2020 second round, performed badly in Paris 2024, losing 6-0 (29-28, 30-29, 28-27). The Chinese archer was seeded 26th, and the Indian archer was seeded 39th. Olympic archers compete in best-of-five sets in the individual events.

Every archer has three sets of arrows to shoot, and two points are awarded to the archer with the highest total score.A set wins and each archer gets one point. The Indian challenge in the men’s individual archery events at Paris 2024 came to an end with Pravin Jadhav departure.

Tarundeep Rai, a four-time Olympian, had already lost in the first round, while Dhiraj Bom madevara had narrowly lost in the second. Indian archers will compete in the men’s team and individual, women’s team and individual, and mixed team medal events at Paris 2024.

This year marks the addition of the mixed team event to the Olympic schedule. The ranking rounds of the archery competitions in Paris 2024 will take place on July 25, one day prior to the formal Opening Ceremony. Every archer fires 72 arrows in the ranking round, and scores are kept track of. Based on results in the ranking phase, the men’s and individual competition seedings are decided.

In terms of the team competitions for men and women,The four teams with the highest seeds from the ranking round will go straight to the quarterfinals. The remaining four quarterfinal spots will be decided by a match between the teams seeded seventh through twelfth.

The ranking round will also determine qualification for the mixed team event, with only the top 16 pairs advancing. The team seeding for each nation fielding a minimum of one men’s and one women’s team is determined by adding the top men’s and top women’s scores from the ranking rounds

The losing semi-finalists in each of the five events will compete for the bronze medal. India has not yet taken home an Olympic medal in archery.
