During this occasion, people worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and ask for blessings for a happy marriage and the health of their families. Strict fasting and a number of customs are observed on this day.

The third day of the waxing moon in the month of Bhadrapada is Hartalika Teej.
The Tritiya Tithi in 2024 begins on September 5 at 12:21 PM and concludes on September 6 at 03:01 PM. On September 6, the morning Puja Muhurat (auspicious period) is from 06:03 AM to 08:34 AM.
During Pradosh Kaal, the optimal time to perform the evening Puja is after sunset, around 6:36 PM.
Hartalika Teej 2024 Fasting Guidelines
Hartalika Teej fasting is observed rigorously from dawn on Teej to sunrise on Chaturthi, usually going a whole day without eating or drinking anything.
The following are the main guidelines to follow during fasting:
Preparation: Eat only satvik (pure and simple) food the day before the fasting day and get ready for the Teej Puja. Make all the required arrangements for the ceremonies the next day.
Sargi: Eat Sargi during Brahma Muhurta (between 4:30 AM and 5:16 AM) on Teej morning. This meal, which is necessary to sustain energy levels during the fast, consists of fruits and sweets. At 6:02 AM, the fast officially starts.Women who observe the fast abstain from food and liquids for the duration of the fast. Fruit or drink can be consumed after Puja if medical conditions such as pregnancy or illness make it difficult to follow the fast religiously.
Breaking the Fast: On Chaturthi, the fast is broken at sunrise by eating cucumber and black gramme that have been soaked. After that, the whole family is fed a lavish dinner.
Rituals for Hartalika Teej
Puja: Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, and Lord Ganesha are worshipped using clay idols or images during the Teej Puja. Installing the idols is best done in the afternoon, and the Puja is done during Pradosh Kaal, which starts at dusk.
On Solah Shringar : women don brand-new attire and outfit themselves with the entire set of 16 traditional jewellery, or solah shringar. For married women, bangles, mangalsutra, sindoors, and other adornments are crucial. During the Puja, these things are also presented to Goddess Parvati.
Offerings: People present Goddess Parvati with objects that represent marital bliss, including bangles and scarlet sarees. Women tell the tale of Hartalika Teej and perform the Aarti for Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Post-Puja Rituals: Following the Puja, women give their mother-in-law gifts and prasad and ask for blessings. Seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, women can fast in search of their perfect life partner.
