Star-studded spectators witnessed American gymnasts Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee create history on Thursday night, August 1, 2024, when they placed first and third, respectively, in the all-around finals of the Olympic Games in Paris.

After taking home the Olympic all-around title in Rio 2016, Biles went on to win it twice, marking a first for American history. In addition, Biles, 27, is the first female gymnast to ever win an Olympic all-around title between non-consecutive events.

The two, together with Lee, made history as the first American gymnasts to win multiple all-around medals at the Olympics. An all-star crowd that included a large portion of the USA Olympic Basketball Team added to the event’s specialness.

Kevin Durant, if there was ever any doubt before, is officially the greatest athlete of all time. Olympics.com heard Durant express his amazement at this. I’m seeing her in person for the first time. I wish my calves had that kind of muscle. I’ll have to work out for that,” Durant remarked.Steph Curry, a teammate, was also present and thoroughly enjoying the American magic taking place on the Bercy Arena court.

Regarding the G.O.A.T.s, renowned American skateboarder Tony Hawk was present as well. He uploaded recordings of Biles and Lee to his Instagram story, along with a photo from their past in which he wished Biles luck in French.

Supermodel Kendall Jenner, Martha Stewart, and Seth Rogen were all spotted in the crowd. Legendary Americans Serena Williams, Michael Phelps, Snoop Dogg, and Ariana Grande were among those who attended the team gymnastics finals.

In a thrilling contest, Simone Biles wins her second Olympic all-around victory.

Superstar gymnast Simone Biles demonstrated this on Thursday night, August 1, by overcoming an early mistake to win her second Olympic all-around title in Paris 2024.

Biles won the gold medal with a score of 59.131, while Rebeca Andrade of Brazil took second place with a score of 57.932. Suni Lee, an American, completed the podium (56.465). It is a first for all three ladies to have graced the Olympic all-around podium.

Tonight, it means the world to me personally, and it’s just so crazy,” Biles remarked afterwards. Biles took home her first medal from Rio 2016 eight years prior. Three years ago in Tokyo 2020, Lee and Andrade took home gold and silver, respectively. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games three years prior, Biles may have been dreaming of her big break.

Instead, the superstar was disqualified from the women’s team final and four more finals because she put her mental health first. She was experiencing what gymnasts refer to as “twisties,” which is a condition in which the body and mind fail to synchronize. It started a global dialogue regarding athletes’ mental health. It also forced her to put in the difficult mental and physical labor necessary to return to the top of the globe.

A tough battle

“After all that had happened, I never thought I’d set foot on the gymnastics floor again,” Biles said.I never believed I’d set foot on the gymnastics floor again,” Biles stated. “But I went back to the gym and worked really hard, both mentally and physically, with the support of [coaches] Cecile and Laurent Landi.” She went on, “I saw my therapist even this morning at 7 a.m., and because of the time difference, she is so amazing for allowing me to do that these few days here in Paris.

With a.267 lead over Andrade, her 13.733 put her on the beam. Biles isn’t accustomed to holding this role. She hadn’t trailed in an international all-around final until Rio 2016, when Russia’s Aliya Mustafina led the scoreboard at the midway stage after winning the previous three world championships.

She’s way too near, and I’m tired,” Biles jeered. It really made me on my toes and brought out the best athlete in me since I’ve never had an athlete that close. I’m thrilled and honored to go up against her.

But, gentlemen, I’m starting to feel uneasy. I was stressing, and I don’t enjoy that feeling. Lee went on, “I swear, I’ve never seen you that stressed in my life.”I thought everything would work out if I performed my part,” Biles went on.

“But after a few bars, I was like, ‘Oh my goodness,’ when I saw the score.” Biles restart. The 27 year-old was seen on the sidelines in a meditative-like mood while the other ladies in her rotation participated in their uneven bars routines.

Regarding the instant following the mistake, she remarked, “I was probably praying to every single god out there, trying to refocus and recenter myself, because that’s not the bars training.

It’s not done until it’s over Biles’s poised and composed performance on the balancing beam was evidence of the hard training that had brought her this far. She finished with a 14.566 and a narrow.166 lead going into the last event, which was her best—the floor exercise. There, she gleamed, her 15.066 making it clear that she was once more radiant.

Suni Lee win Bronze medal

Only a few months prior, Suni Lee was having difficulty getting out of bed after a protracted illness that had prematurely ended her Auburn University academic career. Two days after leading the United States to the women’s team title, she took home the bronze in the individual all-around gymnastics event on Thursday, August 1, at the Olympic Games in Paris, 2024.

After winning a bronze medal, Lee addressed reporters in a crowded media room, “It has taken so much.” “Today, I expressed to everyone that I genuinely doubted my ability to stand at the podium.

. I can’t believe I’m here at all.I decided not to worry about the previous Olympics or even try to prove anything to anyone else, so I walked out there and told myself not to put any pressure on myself,” the woman remarked.

I didn’t think I could accomplish it, so I wanted to show myself that I could. It’s been quite the ordeal.Lee has carved out her own, possibly even more unusual, route back to the Olympic podium, making her the first female all-around champion to win back-to-back individual all-around medals since the legendary Nadia Comaneci in 1976–1980.

Simone Biles’ spectacular return has garnered a lot of attention. When Biles withdrew from the team competition and chose not to compete in the solo one, Lee found herself unexpectedly in the spotlight as the Olympic champion at Tokyo 2020 in 2021. That was the moment when Lee grabbed her Olympic title by the neck.

Since then, though, nothing has been simple. Injuries derailed her collegiate career, and then an unusual illness—a rare ailment known as kidness—landed her in the ICU. It also helped to have Biles by her side. “Having Simone here today definitely helped me a lot; we were both freaking out,” laughed. Lee, 21, acknowledged.

Suni Lee Coah Said

Even as Bercy Arena erupted in cheers, “SUNI! SUNI!” as Lee performed her floor routine, her last act of the evening, bronze wasn’t a given. By the end of her balance beam routine, she had mentally faded and was only 0.034 points behind Italy’s Alice D’Amato.

However, Lee made it clear right away with her opening move, a fully twisting double layout, which she stuck the landing on and grinned broadly. With a final score of 56.465 to 56.333, it was sufficient to defeat D’Amato and win that bronze.

For Lee’s longtime instructor Jess Graba, getting to Paris was a win because the previous 18 months had been difficult. The most important thing is to be here, not to get a medal “Graba said reporters. “Considering everything she has endured and continues to endure, she truly is a fighter.

That’s what it is, then. She also want it. She went to get it outside.” As Lee’s scores lit up, guaranteeing the medal, the sold-out audience exploded once more. She really embraced the experience, covering her mouth with her palm before giving Graba a tremendous hug.

. He cried out in her ear, “I told you!”In front of the media, a beaming Lee said, “I was like, ‘I don’t even know how to do math in my head, and Simone says, ‘Me neither,'” sitting next to Biles. Laughing, both women said, “We were trying to calculate scores but it was not working,” Biles continued. Lee said, “So it was great to be out there with Simone.” “And do it the right way this time.”

Graba remarked of Lee, “I just told her ‘thank you’ tonight.” Just for bringing us, you know. for enabling us to attend this together as a group.
